Safety is, of course, a priority.

Your Run Leader will be Mountain Leader qualified and hold a current 1st aid certificate.
We will work with you to ensure your run is achievable for your group and, where required, we will have a back up vehicle available.

Fitness

The best person to assess your fitness is you. The bigger run is not the better run! We will aim to ensure our routes are varied, picturesque and achievable. (We may even find a run that is mainly down hill!) The Mountains are a wild and beautiful environment and an exhilarating place to run. However, if you have bitten off more than you can chew the experience can be very different, add a little adverse weather and the challenge may be greater than you would like!

For those who have not run in a mountain environment, be conservative when estimating your ability. 10 miles on the hill will feel very different than 10 miles on the road. I would suggest aim around 2/3's of you normal running. If you can comfortably run 12 miles on the road, start your mountain running at 6 - 8 miles, we can often extend the run if your feeling great.

What to run with
You will need a set of waterproofs, an extra warm layer, some snacks and water. A basic personal 1st aid kit and a warm hat.

Footwear

We would recommend a good trail shoe.
A trail shoe has a sole that is designed to cope with mud, rocks and is lightweight. It is different to a classic Fell running shoe as it also has a little more cushioning, which makes it an excellent all rounder.
Please contact us for advice or reassurance as poor footwear will lead to problems or restrictions on where we can run.

There is a massive amount of gear out there, most of it is excellent but very little of it is essential. It is best to ask a few questions, read a few reviews and set yourself a budget.

So, here are some open running dates and prices.

And let's not forget the weather!
